Wayfair Wins ‘Way Day’ with Quadrupled Sales

Popular household goods merchant, Wayfair, recently announced and launched Way Day, a new retail event on April 25th offering “the lowest prices of the year” and free shipping on all orders. Edison Trends examined how Wayfair’s sales changed on Way Day compared to usual day sales at the site.

This demonstrates that Wayfair’s inaugural Way Day sale generated a 4x increase over the site’s average daily sales orders from the previous month.

Figure 2 shows the amount of unique buyers on Way Day increased nearly 4x compared to the average at Wayfair from the month previous. Additionally, looking at the Wayfair average order price spent on Way Day ($276) revealed the spend was approximately the same as the average for the previous month ($275).

Additional Observations

Among the top six most populated states in the USA (below), shoppers spent increased amounts of money on Way Day in New York, Pennsylvania, and California. Even though shoppers did not spend more in average order price, more shoppers than usual made purchases at Wayfair on Way Day.
