Apple debuted its first Pride Edition Watch band in 2016 for employees who participated in San Francisco’s Pride Parade. Last year, the same rainbow-striped band was made available to the general public through September.
In 2018 Apple is once again donating a portion of the proceeds from its Pride Watch band sales to LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations. To get a sense of the campaign’s success, Edison Trends analyzed sales of the Apple Pride Edition Watch band following its June release.
When the Pride Edition band was announced on June 4, its online sales soared to triple those of all other Apple Watch Bands for that day. Throughout the period analyzed, the average price paid for a Pride Edition Apple Watch Band was $48, while it was $61 for other Apple Watch bands.
